In 1986, I went to Mangalore after entrance examination which
now-a-days is called as CET. It was in the month of july. My sister
was staying there and my brother-in-law was working in KIOCL in
Panambur. I was impressed by the public transportation system in
Mangalore at that time. Public transportation was run by numerous
private operators unlike government run transportion of Bangalore or
Mysore. But civic sense of the Mangaloreans also contributed to the
good tramsport to a certain extent.
At that time, my brother-in-law took me to Mangalore airport in Bajpe
to see aeroplane. That was thw first time I saw an aeroplane from
close quarters. I think, airport must be working for a long time. No
major or minor accidents occured thus far in that place barring the
current one. But some people in media, claimed to be greens, telling
that accident occured because of wrong construction of runway. They
were shouting as if accidents there are everyday affair!!!.
