time of birth and I have not conducted delivery for the last eleven
years. For me it is very painful and drives me crazy. When I was
supposed to choose a field in post graduation, I deliberatly ignored
Paediatrics inspite of friends' force. Probably this fear of crying
child made me to avoid Paediatrics?. So I was not seeing any kids
after post graduation. But once I joined cardiology programme, I am
forced to see kids with cardiac conditions. In fact 70 to 80% of
clinical case presentations used to be congenital heart diseases,
though many of them are not kids. Only good thing is they are not
crying while examining them . I have one paediatric cardiologist who
is also a extremely good teacher who corners me during presentations
and told me, MANY TIMES,to read a book 'Bedside cardiology' by Jules
Constant. The book is personal exprience of Jules Constant. His
writing style is different. He starts with a question and answers
them, this style is not common . As this book is personal experience
of a person rather than 'evidence based', which is today's is medicine
is all about, is not liked by the many senior teachers. I tried many
times to read but got bored very easily. Jules constant has become,
atleast, a riddle or conundrum for me.
