An Apple a day.......

Couple of days back, I visited Manthri square which is said to be biggest mall in India!. In fruits & vegetable section, a kid of around my daughter's age, was pestering his mother to get him strawberry & she was frantically searching for it.
Again, couple of weeks back (I could not recall its tittle at present), I watched a Hindi movie(on TV) which was shot in foreign locale & roles behave as if they are born & brought up in west, though their attitude & theme of the movie was very much Indian. In that movie also characters emphasize on Starbucks, Audi, Strawberry, Taco bell(the characters live in India). Though movie was an Indian, done for indian audience but all worldly things emphasized are foreign!!.
From the days of childhood when I started learning English, I am hearing/reading/seeing ' an apple a day..........' like all of you.
I live in karnataka, India where apple or strawberries are not grown, not even in a radius of 2500 kms. If I/we go by the 'an apple a......' or movie which talks about'strawberry' which I/we have to get from places 2500 km away. Imagine the amount of strain on the environment for transporting a perishable goods like apple/strawberry for 2500km which also includes packing, cold storage. We have fruits which are grown around us which are as good as or better than apple.........whose consumption is not going to strain environment but helps poor farmers in our community!!!.

PS: Yeah, mail sounds leftist & Apple tastes bitter!.
